He Was There

By Leah Gavin

He careth for you! — Peter 5:7

This is the bible verse my aunt always put on every card she sent me.

In July I had an accident. I was going home from work. I had ridden my scooter that morning and left too quickly to put on my helmet—no excuse. All I remember is starting the scooter. I woke up in the hospital the next day. God made sure I was unconscious through most of my hospital stay. My blood pressure was so low that they couldn’t find me any pain meds and I had a concussion, head stitches, broken finger on my right hand, broken left wrist, and many bruises. Ben stayed with me and advocated for me. I am still recovering.

My husband and sons were very supportive and caring. Ron took exceptional care of me. When God matched us up he knew he had made a good match. My church family sent up prayers of healing for me and God listened and healed me. My work family and friends all sent cards and prayers.

We had just hired a new pharmacist at the store because I had planned on going into semi-retirement. This was another God intervention.

God is always in my life and I can talk to him anytime. I may not realize his presence at the time but looking back I know that he was there.

Dear God, thank you for all of your care and healing powers, and for all the people who have helped me these past seven months. Amen.
