Great Is Thy Faithfulness

By Anne Waxon

One of the most painful times in my life happened almost twenty-four years ago. Our family was shaken by the stillbirth of our first grandchild. God was with us. I asked a close friend to alert our prayer chain at church and Bible study group. She prayed with me and advised me to read Psalms and Proverbs – knowing our hearts were breaking for our daughter, her husband, and our families. I turned to a book of Psalms and Proverbs in paperback form. Underlining all the scriptures that spoke to me and comforted me including:

I cried unto the Lord…and he heard me.

Psalm 3:4

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

Psalm 6:9

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I trust.

Psalm 18:2

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.

Psalm 92:1-2

I opened our hymnal and it fell open to “Children of the Heavenly Father” – God again spoke to me. Great is thy faithfulness.
